down in the Run since '77
A LITTLE PITTSBURGH HISTORY
Our Story
Jim Bochicchio opened Big Jim's in 1977, down in the Run — the little valley neighborhood tucked under the Parkway in lower Greenfield. The recipes came from his mother, and the family has been running the place the same way ever since.
No frills, no shortcuts: hoagies piled high, calzones that need 45 minutes in the oven, and wedding soup made the way it's always been made. In 2009, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives rolled in — and the veal parm sandwich, nearly as wide as Guy Fieri's head, got its moment.
